Island Software is a small web development and technology consulting group, based on the sunny North East Coast of Tasmania.
We develop and support a broad range of websites and mobile apps, from something simple to promote your local business or manage a community group through to complex interactive web-based database applications such as rostering systems or online shops.
We start all our projects with comprehensive business analysis and project planning and end with hands-on training and full documentation so that our end products exactly match your needs.

We can build and maintain a website for your business or community group. We have access to a broad range of templates or can build something from scratch.
We can keep it simple or add in interactive features like e-mail forms, blogs or discussion forums ... and we'll make sure it all works smoothly on desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones.
We can also organise hosting for your website, getting a web address and the set up of your email accounts.
We are experts at web-based databases using PHP and MySQL. We can develop a customised database for you, no matter how complicated your needs are. We can set up simple or complex access controls so that you control who can use your system or any part of it.
You might want your customers or members to be able to go online and update information, place orders or put themselves on a roster. You might want to allow people to upload images and download documents.
We use cross-platform development tools to build flexible and robust apps for iPhone and Android devices. We can create an app for a destination or event, or to promote a cause and allow donations. We can set up your restaurant in an app or create an online shop.
In many cases we can hand over updating the app to you ...but of course we'll be here to provide help if you need it.

We can help get you up and running with
Community groups are charged at reduced rates, and after we've set up your group or event in the most appropriate application, we will make sure you can continue on your own ... but of course we're always here to help if you need it.

Some Projects We've Worked On
vGate is Ambulance Tasmania's volunteer management system which includes training schedules, policies & procedures and online self-rostering for the state's 600 Volunteer Ambulance Officers. vGate is written in PHP and MySQL and was originally developed in 2008. It won a Technical Excellence Award and the prestigous STAR Award from the Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) in 2010.
MAANZ Conference 2017
We are helping the Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand (MAANZ) use SignUp to manage the large number of volunteers required to make their conference in Hobart in August 2017 run smoothly.
Formal Document Management System
A custom-written PHP/MySQL application, the FDMS allows Ambulance Tasmania to manage the workflow when developing or updating policies, procedures and other formal documents. It tracks by author or custodian what stage documents are at in the development cycle, from initiation to review and final approval.
MCI Triage was an iPhone app for emergency service workers when attending a mass casualty incident. The app was used world-wide and assisted first-responders with rapid triage using five simple observations and buildt a list of victims for transmission to control centres.
